July 4th, 2026. This episode is the epitome of why we are not supposed to discuss religion and politics at the supper table. It goes off the rails towards the end. I get triggered. I don’t express myself well. I start to make assumptions, and he starts to talk over me. I wasn’t sure if I could share it because I didn’t want my clients to misunderstand me and think I’m an unsafe person (I don’t actually know if that’s realistic given the content, but the internet is truly ridiculous when it comes to allowing people to be people).
After sitting on it for a month, asking myself if I should edit it or add an introduction...I have decided to just share it as-is, uncut, and trust that the people whose opinions actually matter to me are intelligent and compassionate enough to not expect perfection or to assume that everything I am trying to parse in one triggered conversation with a family member is indicative of how I feel or think about some of these issues.
So here it is. Part 2. Play nice, kids.

Thank you (both) for your willingness and vulnerability to have these conversations, and for sharing it all @Alyssa Allegretti 🫶
I really found resonance with both of you in different ways. As a newly baptized single mother who used to be in a polyamorous marriage, it is so refreshing to hear family members traverse these topics at the supper table. As triggering & challenging as it can be I pray that this serves you both and your families in the ways that it needs to. About to listen to ep 3 🙏
